We are expanding our academic mentoring team and are seeking exceptional IB and advanced academic mentors who can work with high school students, particularly those in Grades 11–12 .

About the Role

Student Level: Grades 11–12 / High School
Curriculum: IB, AP, and other advanced academic programmes
Location: Remote
Employment Type: Independent Contractor
Compensation: $50–$100 USD per teaching hour, depending on experience and qualifications

This is a specialized academic mentoring role for educators who can confidently teach advanced high-school students.

We're looking for mentors with the academic depth and teaching experience to support students taking rigorous coursework, including IB and AP classes , as well as students preparing for academic competitions and other advanced academic opportunities.

What You'll Do

  • Provide one-on-one academic instruction and mentoring to high school students.
  • Teach advanced material in your area of subject expertise.
  • Support students enrolled in IB, AP, and other rigorous academic programmes .
  • Help students prepare for advanced coursework, examinations, and academic goals.
  • Develop students' analytical thinking, problem-solving, research, writing, and communication skills.
  • Adapt instruction to each student's academic level and individual goals.
  • Mentor students preparing for academic competitions and enrichment opportunities .
  • Where applicable, coach students toward competitive academic outcomes.
  • Encourage high-achieving students to become more independent and confident learners.

What We're Looking For

We're particularly interested in educators who have demonstrated experience working with academically ambitious high school students.

Candidates should have:

  • Strong academic or professional credentials in their subject area.
  • Experience teaching or mentoring high school students, particularly Grades 11–12 .
  • The ability to confidently teach advanced high-school content.
  • Experience with IB, AP, or other advanced academic curricula .
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to explain complex concepts clearly.
  • The ability to challenge and support high-achieving students.
  • A reliable internet connection and professional online teaching setup.

IB & AP Experience

Direct experience with IB and/or AP programmes is strongly preferred.

We are especially interested in mentors who have experience with:

  • IB Diploma Programme subjects.
  • Advanced IB coursework and examination preparation.
  • AP courses and AP examinations.
  • Supporting students through Grades 11–12.
  • Academic writing, research, analysis, and critical thinking.
  • Helping students prepare for competitive university pathways.

For IB English , candidates should be comfortable teaching the appropriate IB English level, including Levels 7–12 , depending on student needs.

Academic Competition Experience

Experience preparing students for academic competitions is highly valued.

We're particularly interested in mentors who have successfully guided students toward measurable results, including:

  • Competition wins or placements.
  • Students shortlisted or advancing to later rounds.
  • Regional, national, or international competition achievements.
  • Experience coaching individual students or competition teams.
  • A demonstrated record of helping students achieve strong academic outcomes.

Interview & Teaching Demonstration

Shortlisted candidates will complete a 15-minute teaching demonstration in their area of expertise.

The demonstration should be delivered as though the interviewer is a student learning the material for the first time. Candidates should demonstrate strong subject knowledge, clear explanations, effective questioning, and the ability to engage an advanced high-school learner.

During the interview, we'll also discuss your experience with:

  • IB and/or AP curricula
  • Grades 11–12 / high-school teaching
  • Advanced academic mentoring
  • Academic competitions
  • Student achievements and measurable outcomes
